Contemplation

Place your mind before the mirror of eternity! Place your soul in the brilliance of glory! Place your heart in the figure of the divine substance, and through contemplation, allow your entire being to be transformed into the image of the Godhead itself, so that you may feel what friends feel, and taste the hidden sweetness that God has reserved for His lovers.

– Clare of Assisi

Contemplation

Contemplation

By the grace of God

In turning over to God my inability to control my alcohol use, I am thinking of it in a different way. Jim recently talked about how drinking is a means to cover up and numb our emotions. I have always known this, but in recent years could not apply it to my life situation. However, in reassessing it now, I am aware that when I drink, although I used to say it was because I was bored, I can see it filling up a void of loneliness. This is the first truth.

The second truth, is in understanding that God knows about this vice of mine and still loves me whether or not I act on it. However, as with Jim’s teaching once again, I can walk a path of least resistance in knowing God, by abstaining.

Thirdly, just today in having listened to the last video on Mystic Sobriety, I can understand that even though I am not in a place where I need to “hit bottom”, in applying the steps, in turning my life over completely to God’s care, I find in God’s reciprocity of love my destiny is fulfilled. Which is the state of realistic and healthy drinking.

A Very Big Day

Today.
I trimmed my hair and it is finally one length. The tangle of wires over my bed were covered. I published my eBook. And when I did… the first thought that entered my mind was… I am just getting started. There will be another.

Contemplation

Sometimes, this quickening, can be very intense. And it can come at a very young age. Then you spend the rest of your life seeking it again. And keeping a fidelity to it. It changes your life.

I think I understand what this is all about, partially. It may not be that these words are intended only for myself to remember. I say this without my ego getting in the way…

… I love You for this. I am confused by this. Thank you for imbibing me with the patience to continue to love when the feeling is lost but not lost. Thank you for inspiring me to write this down, and giving me the voice, however incorrect, to continue.
